Zinc chloride

Product Overview & Quality

  • Product Name: Zinc chloride
  • Brand: Kemaus (Product Code: KA-1687)
  • Grade: Laboratory Grade (Lab Grade) with a purity of 97 percent or higher. Produced under Kemaus standard quality control to ensure dependable chemical properties. Perfectly suited for educational experiments, general laboratory applications, chemical synthesis, and routine industrial testing.
  • Physical Properties: Odorless, white crystalline powder or solid granules.
  • Solubility: Highly soluble in water (highly exothermic dissolution, releasing heat); readily soluble in alcohol and acetone. Yields an acidic aqueous solution.
  • Key Use: Widely used as a catalyst and reagent in organic chemical synthesis, particularly in dehydration and condensation reactions. Utilized in metallurgical research and materials science for electroplating solution preparation. Also serves as a core chemical precursor for synthesizing other zinc derivative compounds.

Safety & Hazards (Critical)

  • Classification: Strongly Corrosive (Category 1B). Harmful if swallowed.
  • Health Risks: Causes severe skin burns and serious, permanent eye damage upon direct contact. Inhalation of dust or generated fumes causes severe irritation and destructive effects on the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract.
  • Environmental Hazards: Very toxic to aquatic life with long-lasting effects. Dispose of strictly as hazardous chemical waste. Do not discharge into general drainage systems.
  • First Aid Measures: Immediately flush affected eyes or skin with plenty of flowing water for at least 15 to 30 minutes. Seek urgent medical attention immediately.

Handling & Storage

  • Storage: Highly Hygroscopic and Deliquescent (rapidly absorbs moisture from the ambient air and liquefies). Must be stored in the original, tightly sealed Kemaus container. Keep in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated space at stable room temperature (below 30 degrees Celsius). Keep strictly away from strong bases, oxidizing agents, and moisture.
  • Precautions: Comprehensive PPE is mandatory, including chemical-resistant laboratory gloves, safety goggles, a protective coat, and a dedicated dust respirator. Handle strictly within a functioning fume hood to avoid direct exposure to airborne dust.
