Lithium chloride anhydrous

Product Overview & Quality

  • Product Name: Lithium chloride anhydrous
  • Brand: Kemaus (Product Code: KA-292)
  • Grade: Laboratory Grade (Lab Grade) with a dependable purity of 98 percent or higher. Manufactured under Kemaus standard laboratory quality control to ensure uniform chemical properties and reliable performance. Excellently suited for molecular biology isolation techniques, electrochemical research, and general chemistry laboratory testing.
  • Physical Properties: Odorless, white crystalline powder or white hygroscopic crystals with a sharp salty taste.
  • Solubility & Reactivity: Highly soluble in water; readily soluble in alcohol, acetone, and amyl alcohol. Dissolution in water is highly exothermic (releases significant thermal energy).
  • Key Use: Widely utilized in molecular biology and biotechnology laboratories as an effective precipitating agent for selective RNA precipitation and isolation from biological mixtures. Frequently applied as a premium electrolyte component in electrochemical studies and lithium-ion battery research modeling. Also functions as an efficient laboratory desiccant to trap air moisture, and used as a reference material for flame test demonstrations (yielding a distinct, vivid carmine red flame coloration).

Safety & Hazards (Critical)

  • Classification: Harmful if swallowed. Causes skin irritation. Causes serious eye irritation.
  • Health Risks: Direct eye contact triggers immediate stinging irritation, temporary watering, and tissue redness. Skin contact results in localized irritation and dry discomfort. Ingestion of significant amounts delivers systemic lithium toxicity, affecting the central nervous system and kidneys, potentially causing nausea, vomiting, dizziness, or tremors.
  • First Aid Measures: Flush affected eyes or skin immediately with plenty of flowing water for at least 15 minutes. If swallowed, rinse mouth thoroughly with water and seek prompt medical attention.

Handling & Storage

  • Storage: Extremely Hygroscopic and Deliquescent (rapidly absorbs moisture from ambient air and turns into a liquid solution). Must be stored in its original, tightly sealed Kemaus container with an intact seal. Keep in a strictly dry, cool, and well-ventilated dedicated chemical storage area at stable room temperature (below 30 degrees Celsius). Protect completely from exposure to atmospheric air and high humidity.
  • Precautions: Wear standard personal protective equipment (PPE), including laboratory chemical gloves, safety glasses, and a particulate dust mask. Ensure the container cap is secured tightly immediately after each volumetric dispensing.
