Ethanol 99.9% or Absolute Ethanol or Dehydrated Alcohol

Product Overview & Quality

  • Product Name: Ethanol 99.9% or Absolute Ethanol or Dehydrated Alcohol or Ethyl alcohol
  • Brand: QReC (Product Code: QR-E7025-1-2501)
  • Grade: Analytical Reagent (AR Grade) featuring an exceptional premium chemical purity of 99.9 percent or higher. Produced under high-efficiency distillation and dehydration protocols in compliance with QReC strict global laboratory standards. Tightly regulated to maintain exceptionally low moisture content (anhydrous grade) along with minimal ppm thresholds of non-volatile matter, free acids, aldehydes, and higher alcohols. Packaged in a specialized amber glass bottle to prevent atmospheric moisture infiltration and maintain absolute purity for ultra-sensitive analytical procedures.
  • Physical Properties: Clear, colorless, highly volatile, mobile liquid with a characteristic pleasant alcoholic odor. Highly flammable liquid and vapor that ignites readily, burning with a clean, light blue flame.
  • Solubility: Completely miscible in all proportions with water and virtually all common organic solvents, including methanol, acetone, diethyl ether, chloroform, and toluene.
  • Key Use: Heavily utilized in molecular biology and biotechnology laboratories for nucleic acid purification, specifically for DNA and RNA precipitation, where ultra-low moisture is vital to ensure quantitative recovery. Extensively applied as a primary polar extraction solvent for isolating phytochemicals, antioxidants, and active botanical ingredients. Widely used as a versatile mobile phase eluent or modifier in chromatographic techniques (TLC and column chromatography). Routinely applied for formulating analytical reagents and serves as a residue-free cleaning and sanitizing agent for sensitive laboratory glassware and instruments.

Safety & Hazards (Flammable)

  • Classification: Highly flammable liquid and vapor. Causes serious eye irritation. May cause drowsiness or dizziness under elevated inhalation exposure.
  • Health Risks: Direct eye contact causes rapid stinging irritation, watering, and conjunctival redness. Prolonged or repeated dermal exposure strips natural skin lipids, leading to dryness, irritation, or minor cracking. Inhalation of concentrated vapors in poorly ventilated spaces depresses the central nervous system, inducing headaches, dizziness, intoxication, or acute drowsiness.
  • Consumption Restriction: This product is formulated and manufactured strictly for laboratory, analytical, and industrial scientific applications; not for human consumption or pharmaceutical beverage blending.
  • First Aid Measures: Flush affected eyes or skin immediately with plenty of flowing clean water for at least 15 minutes. In case of vapor inhalation causing dizziness, move the victim to fresh air promptly.

Handling & Storage

  • Storage: Highly Flammable and Hygroscopic Liquid. Absolute ethanol rapidly absorbs ambient atmospheric moisture when exposed to open air, which gradually lowers its nominal percentage concentration. Must be kept in its original, tightly closed QReC glass container inside a dedicated safety cabinet for flammable liquids. Store in a cool, dry, and excellently ventilated area at stable room temperature (below 30 degrees Celsius), sheltered from direct sunlight. Keep strictly isolated from open flames, sparks, hot surfaces, static discharge, and strong oxidizing agents.
  • Precautions: Standard laboratory PPE is required, including chemical-resistant gloves, safety goggles, and a protective lab coat. Ensure the container cap is firmly resealed immediately after each use to prevent volatile evaporation and airborne moisture absorption.
