Sodium hydroxide pellets (Caustic Soda)
Product Overview & Quality
- Product Name: Sodium hydroxide pellets (Caustic Soda)
- Grade: Analytical Reagent (AR Grade), featuring premium purity ( 99%) with ultra-low levels of impurities (carbonates, chlorides, and heavy metals). Packed in 1 kg containers for high-precision analytical tasks.
- Physical Properties: Odorless, white opaque pellets.
- Solubility: Readily soluble in water; highly exothermic dissolution (releases intense heat).
- Key Use: Ideal for preparing standardized volumetric solutions, catalysis in high-purity organic synthesis, and precision pH adjustment in sensitive assays.
Safety & Hazards (Critical)
- Classification: Severely Corrosive (Category 1). Causes severe skin burns and serious eye damage.
- Health Risks: Direct contact causes immediate and deep tissue destruction. Eye contact is an extreme emergency and may lead to permanent blindness.
- Chemical Warning: Always add pellets to water gradually to control the heat of dissolution and prevent hazardous splashing.
- First Aid Measures: Immediately flush affected eyes or skin with plenty of flowing water for at least 15-30 minutes. Seek immediate medical attention.
Handling & Storage
- Storage: Extremely Hygroscopic and Deliquescent; it will rapidly absorb moisture and Carbondioxide from the atmosphere to form a liquid. Store in a cool, dry place in tightly sealed HDPE containers.
- Precautions: Comprehensive PPE is mandatory. Avoid contact with aluminum, zinc, and tin, as this generates flammable hydrogen gas. Do not use glass stoppers for storage.
