- Classification: Highly Toxic if swallowed or inhaled; Corrosive to skin and eyes.
- Health Risks: Exposure can cause “Selenosis,” leading to damage to the liver, kidneys, and central nervous system. It causes severe chemical burns upon contact.
- Environmental Hazards: Very toxic to aquatic life with long-lasting effects.
- First Aid Measures: Immediately flush affected eyes or skin with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. In case of inhalation or ingestion, move to fresh air and seek medical attention immediately.
Handling & Storage
- Storage: Store in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area. Keep the container hermetically sealed as the substance is deliquescent (absorbs moisture to dissolve). Keep away from strong acids and reducing agents.
- Precautions: Full PPE is mandatory, including chemical-resistant gloves, safety goggles, and a high-efficiency respirator. Use strictly within a fume hood
